Our focus is not inter-union combat.

Our focus is a realistic assesment of the present and
our vision of the future that offers both great opportunity and big challenges.  We believe we must protect the work of today while organizing the work of tomorrow.  Establishing AFTRA's jurisdiction over the Internet and 'new media' has been an essential step. Now, we must bargain hard but smart to make sure any provisions compensate and protect us fairly for the work we do: "entertaining and informing America and the world."

We are committed to building solid relationships with other unions and guilds within the entertainment industry, as well as with the larger House of Labor.  We believe this is essential to increase our power and leverage at the bargaining table, a critical element for any success as we confront our increasingly consolidated employers.

AftraNOW is a diverse leadership group of working professionals serving the New York Local of AFTRA.  Combined, we hold memberships in eight different entertainment unions.  We joined together in 2001, making our first platform item "jobs for AFTRA members".  That continues to be our focus today.

Background to center stage, we are a diverse group of men and women, working hard to build and maintain careers, just like you.  You'll know us from the workplace, and the negotiating committees for the Commercials, PrimeTime TV,  Industrial / Non-Broadcast, Network Code, News, and Sound Recordings contracts.

We lead AFTRA nationally and in the New York Local.  We lead on essential committees of administration, strategy, finance, legislative, EEO, H&R, Promo, and IT to name only some.

It is a new world, a new digitized workplace.  For the jobs of today or the opportunities of tomorrow, we believe NOW is the time to organize them.
